6 Important reasons for Springtime Cleaning!

Don’t we all need a few reasons to spring clean? Maybe the correct word to use here would be “motivation.” Spring-cleaning can be rough to get started, but once you finish, you feel so accomplished!

And regardless of the name, “spring” cleaning isn’t just for springtime. It can be done any time of the year, so don’t make excuses! Here are a few top reasons to spring clean.

1. Finding “Lost” Items

One of the most fun reasons to spring clean is to find “lost” items!

Whether they are items you actually misplaced or haven’t seen in forever, or just stuff you forgot you had, this is a good reason to spring clean. Stuff can get easily forgotten when we don’t see it every day, so start digging through those closets and who knows?

You might find a “new” outfit, or some “new” home décor!

2. De-cluttering and Organizing

A good reason to spring clean is to get rid of trash or things that are just taking up space, and introduce some organization into your cabinets and drawers!

Allow yourself a few days, since this task can be time-consuming.

3. Getting Rid of Clothes You Don’t Wear

What’s the best reason you can think of to get rid of clothes you no longer wear? To make room for new clothes, of course!

In all seriousness, having a closet that’s not stuffed full can make your outfit-choosing much easier each morning. Take a few hours and toss out anything you haven’t worn in 6 months.

4. Making Pocket Money

Spring-cleaning offers the chance to make a little pocket money! How?

Because as you clean out and go through each room in your home, everything you collect to get rid of can be sold in a yard sale! Or on eBay or Craigslist if you don’t want to have a yard sale.

5. Cleaning out Mold

It’s gross to think about, but mold does grow in some areas of our house. Usually it’s places we don’t frequent often, such as the toilet tank, the rim under the washer, or the shower curtain liner.

Check any place that’s moist and dark at least 80% of the time to make sure you don’t have mold growing!

6. Getting Your House Aired out

One of the best parts of spring cleaning, is throwing up the windows and letting a fresh breeze blow through the home.

If you don’t live in an area that has clean air (such as a big city), then you could run some fans or burn some candles to freshen your place up.

As you clean, the cleaning products will also make your home smell clean and new.

What to pack?

Feelings of excitement to finally arrive at your new home mixed with an inkling of stress to complete the tasks of moving day can be overwhelming! We’ll do the heavy lifting, but we do have a tip to make your day run smoothly – pack an essentials bag for the day of your move!

It sounds so simple but can easily be forgotten with the number of other to-dos being taken care of on moving day. Set aside one bag or box and keep it with you throughout the duration of your move. This box should contain anything you feel is essential to have on the day of your move.

Chances are you’ll have cleared out your refrigerator by moving day and may not have time, or items unpacked, to prepare a meal in your new house right away. Keep granola bars, fruit, bottled water, and other packaged snacks with you to stay fueled.

Place any prescription drugs in your bag of essentials to ensure you know where they are at all times in case of a medical emergency.

Paper products

Imagine arriving at your new home to realize you’ve forgotten a key essential – toilet paper! In addition, bringing along paper plates, plastic silverware, cups, napkins, and trash bags will be useful if kitchen supplies are still boxed up.

Keep items such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, travel shampoo and conditioner, towels, and soap with you to freshen up upon arriving.

Tech needs

Avoid misplacing your phone, computer, or any other chargers you’ll need. Put them in your essentials box!

Important papers

We recommend keeping important documents including birth certificates, passports, and other information in a safe place on moving day. This can include a few boxes you choose to transport yourself, or a locked safe loaded onto the moving truck.

Change of clothes

Trust us, you may want a change of clothes with you, especially if you’re moving and organizing during the hot, summer months!

Why is house cleaning so important?

The continuous ritual of putting things away, dusting, vacuuming, scrubbing and shining is not anyone’s idea of a fun time. However, as tedious as the chore of cleaning house can be, making an effort to keep things tidy is extremely important to maintaining both mental and physical health.

Below are a few reasons why it is important to have a clean home as well as a few practical ways in which to do so.

Regular housekeeping kills germs: Germs can suppress the immune system and cause you to become sick often. These sick-causing germs like to live on the surfaces of the home. Almost everything you do can create germs in the house – touching door knobs and countertops, taking off your shoes, scratching your hair, using the toilet and eating your dinner can create germs. However, by continuously cleaning your home with a quality disinfectant, you can kill up to 98 percent of the daily germs and help keep your family healthy.

Improves the quality of the indoor air: According to the American Lung Association, poor indoor air quality can trigger disorders such as allergies and asthma as well as other breathing problems. The air in the home can become degraded from accumulated dust bunnies, mildew and animal dander.

Enhances the aesthetics of the home: A clean and organized home is a beautiful home. Organization forces you to focus on the qualities of the house. Instead of looking at piles of clutter and a sink full of dishes, your focus will go to your beautiful furniture and shiny appliances.

Improves mental clarity and deters stress: Keeping your home clean is one of the easiest ways to improve clarity and deter stress. Walking into a filthy house can instantly put you in a funk of a mood, and piles of clutter and disorganization can trigger brain fog and depression.

Saves time: A lot of time is wasted looking for things that have been misplaced somewhere in the home. Cleaning the house often and creating organization can curb some of that wasted time.

But… LET’S BE HONEST. Do you really enjoy doing these kind of activities? Do you have enough free time to do it periodically? If not… Let us do it for you!

We know you put a lot of time into keeping your house clean. A lot of that time is spent looking for the best products; however, the most expensive or newest products are not always the best option. This is especially true when considering products used in hour home and the effects they can have on our health. Here are some home products you can use as environment-friendly, biodegradable cleaning products.

First, consider using white vinegar, a multipurpose cleaner. It can be used to clean floors, bathrooms, rugs, tiles, windows, glass, and many more. It is proved to be an efficient disinfectant, antiseptic and degreaser. White vinegar can also be used to remove stains on fabric and corrosion or chemical build-up from faucets and showerheads. Additionally, it can be used to clean stainless steel, carpets and many types of flooring, even hardwood!

Another helpful product is sodium bicarbonate, also known as baking soda. You can use it to neutralize odors in a room or almost any kind of fabric. One advantage of baking soda is that it is environment-friendly, so you will be actively reducing toxic water and soil production. Baking soda can be used to clean toys, soften clothing, neutralize odors, clean carpets and ovens, get rid of cockroaches, and preserve food, among many other uses.

You can also rely on hydrogen peroxide. H₂O₂ can easily be found in any drug store due to its natural disinfectant properties. It can completely eliminate microorganisms by way of oxidation, a controlled chemical reaction. Some uses of hydrogen peroxide are dishwashing, teeth whitening, and mold removal.

We use these and other allies in every one of our services to give you not only a clean room, but a clean and chemical-free environment. Let us show you how these products will help keeping your home clean, so you can enjoy time with your loved ones in a pleasant atmosphere. We would like to hear your comments or feedback and tell you more about the importance of these products.IMG_6672 IMG_6671 IMG_6678 IMG_6673

MOVING SOON? Here are some useful tips:

1.- Seize the opportunity; moving is a great moment to have a house cleaning and get rid of things you no longer use or need.

2.- Buy some boxes, grapping paper, tape, packing peanuts and markers once you have decided to move houses.

3.- Label each box with both the name of the room the items contained were in and the room they will be in. This will help you know where they used to be and set them more easily in your new house.

4.- Be organized; only put items from the same room inside a box and label each box with the room it will go into in your new home. Not only will our movers be able to leave each box in the correct room, but you will also be able to remember and identify where the items used to be.

5.- Prepare a “survival kit”, keeping in mind the things you will need during your moving day and the days after moving. You will probably need things like personal hygiene products (toothbrush, toothpaste, towels), comfortable clothing and any other vital products you might need while you settle into your new house.

6.- Save pieces of an unassembled furniture, like bolts and nuts, in individual plastic bags. You can label each bag with the furniture the pieces go in. In addition, you can take some pictures or shoot a short video that will help you reassemble your furniture.

7.-  Exploit the moving van’s space. The best way to do this is by loading the biggest furniture first, then heavy boxes and finally, the lightest ones. Any space left can be filled with small articles, bags, or pieces to keep your belongings from banging into each other. Don’t forget to tighten your cargo with strings to further avoid damage.

8.- Decide  whether you want to take care of your moving on by yourself or you want our team of experts to handle it for you. You might decide to do it on your own if you are running on a tight budget, but keep in mind that you might need to invest more time organizing, packing, assembling and disassembling furniture, renting a van and managing any other stressful issue that could arise.

Moving is strenuous work and it can take days, or even weeks, of planning. We hope you find this tips useful and that they offer an overview of all the details involved in moving on your own. Or you can leave it in our hands, so you can put your time to best use, like closing the deal on your new house, spending it with your family, or taking care of your other responsibilities. DON’T HESITATE, contact us! We will be happy to help you in this exciting transition. Send your contact information and we will give you a free quotation and guide you through the process of moving houses.IMG_6688 IMG_6681 IMG_6670 IMG_6684
